“Spirits of the Past" returns to Medina’s Public Square September 5th thru the 7th with six stories about Medina's history MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio - The Medina County Arts Council, The Medina County Historical Society and the Medina County Show Biz Company are proud to announce that this year’s “Spirits of the Past” will be on September 5th through the 7th for a walk into history with a fun evening of stories about early pioneers and historical events from Medina’s past. The walk, now in its 28th year, offers dramatized scenes featuring important characters from local history. At different locations around the Square, you will hear stories about the events and lives of Medina's pioneers with dramatic reenactments performed by local actors. This year's stories, with scripts written by members of the Medina County Historical Society and the Medina County Show Biz, include Dr. Samuel Hudson; Medina’s first and only hanging – Frederick Streeter; Ella Canavan; the great fire of 1870; grocery store owner Ida Cannon; and the last top will be at the Gazebo in the Square with the story of the great sleigh race. The walk will be held from 7 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, Sept. 5th, and from 7 to 9 p.m. on both Friday, Sept. 6th, and Saturday, Sept. 7th. Every 10 minutes, guided tours will begin from the Medina County Administration Building located at 144 N. Broadway St, in Medina. The number of guests per time slot is limited. Ten of those slots will be sold at pre-sale and 10 sold on the night of the walk. Tickets for the walks are $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger, children under 3 years of age are free. Tickets can be purchased in person on August 18th at the Medina County Historical Society Ice Cream Social that is taking place at the McDowell Phillips House located at 205 S. Prospect St in Medina from 1 to 4pm. The Medina County Historical Society will also be selling pre-sale tickets at the John Smart House Museum (206 N. Elmwood, Medina) on Saturday, August 31 from 9:00 AM– 1:00 PM, Sunday, September 1 from 1:00 PM – 4:00PM, Tuesday, September 3 from 9:00 AM– 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 4 from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM and on Thursday, September 5 from 9:00 AM– 1:00 PM. New for this year is online ticketing, which can be purchased at www.medinacountyartscouncil.org/spirits-of-the-past Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the event at the Medina County Administration Building, in the rear parking lot where the tour starts. Since 1995, Spirits of the Past has been produced through the cooperation of the Medina County Show Biz, the Medina County Historical Society, and Medina County Arts Council. The groups share the responsibilities of the event, as well as the proceeds from ticket sales.
