What’s Happening at the Summer Soirée?

Join us for a delightful summer evening of delicious hors d’oeuvres from Medina restaurants, fun activities, great fellowship, and a celebration of the Arts! Highlights of the evening include: Live Auction of Unique Experiences Purchase Seat Reservations for “Dining with the Arts” 32nd Service to the Arts Awards Ceremony
32nd Service to the Arts Awards Honorees Each year, Medina County Arts Council Trustees honor well-respected and deserving individuals and organizations in our community for their passion, efforts, and commitment to the arts in Medina County. This year’s Individual Award goes to Cindy Allman and the Organization Award goes to The Medina Bicentennial Committee. You can learn more about this year’s recipients on our website or at the event.

During the Summer Soirée, attendees will be able to purchase reservations for Dining with the Arts which is a series of dinners, brunches, and wine tastings hosted by supporters of Medina arts in their homes and backyards across the County. Information about specific locations, menus, and dates will be posted at our website, www.medinacountyartscouncil.org as they become available.

2019 MCAC Scholarship Winner Announced: Matthew Dietrich
|
This year, the MCAC Board of Trustees voted to grant the one-time scholarship to Brunswick High School senior, Matthew Dietrich. Matthew is heavily involved with Brunswick Marching Band as its Drum Major. He is a member of all major ensembles at Brunswick including jazz band, wind ensemble, and also participated in the Ohio All-State Band where he was selected as principal of the saxophone section. Matthew has been accepted to the University of Akron to pursue a degree in Music Education. In his essay, Matthew states he wants to share the gifts he received through his passion for music to help and influence people to become better versions of themselves.

The MCAC Board of Trustees will award the scholarship at the Service to the Arts Awards evening on June 6. We congratulate Matthew and the other 14 applicants on their dedication to the arts.

The events are presented by the Medina County Arts Council in partnership with the Medina County District Library, Wadsworth Library, Arts in Action - Sharon Center, and the Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO). Free concerts and activities are scheduled. Check our website for more details.

Summer Classes for KidsSummer Arts Classes will be held at Medina County District Library/Medina Branch. FREE Registration begins June 1 at mcdl.info or by calling 330.725.0588. African Safari: Polymer Clay: July 9–11, 2019, 12:30–2:30 pm Grades 4 & Up, Class Size: 15 Take a clayful journey through Africa. Create clay projects including a steampunk elephant and a mixed-media lion. Instructor: Annette Carruthers. All art supplies provided. Drawing & Cartooning: July 9–11, 2019, 10 am–12 pm Grades 4 & Up, Class Size: 22 Learn to draw cartoon characters and personify both animals and objects. Instructor: Jim Gill. All art supplies provided.

Allison Sartain Recognized for Medina Mural
|
On April 7, Medina High School junior Allison Sartain was recognized for the mural of Medina she recently completed on the 6' x 11' wall in the HUB. She worked 40 minutes a day, 5 days a week during her study hall since October 23, 2018. Congrats Allison! Thank you for such a wonderful gift. Check it out on Facebook.
