Arts Views is a monthly e-newsletter for Medina County Arts Council patrons and Medina County residents to promote and build community excellence through the arts.

 

Autumn is in full swing and the holidays will soon be upon us! We know events and parties abound during the season. Before your schedule fills up, we wanted to share some fun and festive events throughout Medina County in November and early December. Pencil these in to ensure you don’t miss out!

Veterans Day Concert – “Celebrating the Patriots”

Author Talk: Rust Belt Burlesque by Erin O’Brien
Wed., Nov. 13, 7 pm, Highland Library Community Room

Erin O’Brien, co-author of Rust Belt Burlesque, will share tidbits from Northeast Ohio's burlesque scene past and present. She'll also reveal how the indomitable Bella Sin, a Mexican immigrant, spearheaded the local comeback of this bawdy performance art. The lively presentation will include vintage photos, co-author Bob Perkoski's dazzling images of modern burlies and a Q&A with the authors. Book signing to follow.

Arts Opportunities

Medina Community Band Scholarship Opportunity:
High School Senior Solo Competition

Attention all high school seniors! Medina Community Band’s senior solo competition is open to any high school senior instrumentalist attending one of Medina County’s public, private high schools or home school. A cash scholarship prize of $500 will be awarded to the winner. Applicants must be enrolled as members of their school’s performing ensemble when applying and must continue their participation during the 2019-2020 academic year. Homeschoolers must be sponsored by their private teacher. Applications are due by Tues., Dec. 31, 2019. Learn more, submit application here.

Audition Opportunity: Wind in the Willows

Audition for the cast of this riotous comedy based on the popular Kenneth Grahame book. Production dates scheduled for March 6-15, 2020.
